Pillows. I know we all love our pillows. You can call them your snuggle buddies, a night’s best friend, whatever. But what if I told you that ditching your pillow might actually be better for you? Sleeping without a pillow is actually gaining popularity, and there’s a reason for that.
First of all, I'm sure you’ve heard before how sleeping without a pillow can help align your spine. Most pillows tilt your head up at an unnatural angle, which can lead to neck and back pain. When you sleep flat, your body has a more natural posture, which can reduce aches and improve overall comfort. This is especially true for stomach sleepers, who often find that pillows strain their necks.
Another benefit? Improved skin. Pillows can press your face into the fabric, causing wrinkles over time (sleep wrinkles are a thing). Without a pillow, your face stays free of fabric creases, allowing for better circulation and fewer lines in the long run. Plus, let’s not forget that pillows are breeding grounds for dust mites and allergens, which can lead to breakouts or even worsen allergies. A pillowless sleep means fewer allergens near your face, leaving your skin happier and healthier.
So if you feel like you have that camel back and if you have free, untextured, smooth glass skin, I highly recommend trying to sleep for at least a week.
